The very first watch I ever owned was a Timex Ironman with an Indiglo light up face. I think I got that watch when I was in 7th grade and kept it until I was in high school. I’m not sure when I lost it, but I have fond memories of that watch. It didn’t matter what abuse I threw at it, the watch just shrugged it off and kept working. Now it sounds like Timex might be releasing a new smartwatch sometime in 2015.
You might remember that Timex offers a smartwatch already, the Ironman One GPS+. The Ironman One has its own 3G radio so it can send messages without a phone. While the current Timex offerings cater to the fitness crowd, the new smartwatch would be for the general consumer. It’s likely that the new smartwatch would connect to your smartphone and function in a similar fashion to the new LG and Motorola smartwatches. Right now these are just rumors, but at the rate the smartwatch market is growing, it would be surprising if Timex didn’t offer some sort of new smartwatch in the next year. We’ll keep you posted!
