Spree Wearables fitness app now available on Android
Spree Wearables went a different route with there fitness tracking system. Instead of a watch, they delivered a fitness pod to the market. The Spree Pod is then placed in either the Spree Headband or the Spree Smartcap. Depending on your preference, you can move the pod back and forth between the two wearables. The idea of the Spree Pod also means that Spree Wearables can develop other fitness wearables if they so chose.
What they have really done is replaced the uncomfortable chest strap that dominated the heart rate monitor market for so long. If you are just jogging, or riding a bike, the classic chest strap still offers a great way to track your heart rate. But, more and more athletes in more and more sports want to track their heart rate and the chest strap just doesn’t make sense. Whether you are in a kickboxing class, a CrossFit bootcamp, or simply playing your favorite sport, tracking fitness data has become essential for reaching new levels of personal fitness.
The latest news from Spree Wearables is that their fitness app, which collects and tracks all your fitness data from the Spree Pod is now available for Android. The Android app offers the same great features:
The Spree Fitness App obtains real-time information from the POD to keep track of your heart rate, distance, speed, body temperature and calories burned while you workout. Track your distance on a real-time GPS map and set your target heart rate to get maximum benefits. The pairing of the Spree POD and Spree Fitness App also allows you to store your workout history for comparative review, giving you immediate tangible goals to achieve.
…
Currently, the Spree Fitness App is the only bluetooth application that accepts multiple services in real-time, allowing the Spree to measure heart rate, movement and body temperature simultaneously. It also boasts a real-time sample rate, which allows for the most up-to-date metrics.
What do you think? Would you prefer the Spree Wearables pod/app combo over a fitness tracker on your wrist?
