Over the next few weeks Android Wear owners will find a new feature coming to their smartwatches. Once rolled out, it will let users locate a misplaced smartphone by simply dialing it from their wrist. The Android Device Manager recently picked up a software update; however, the new option has not rolled out to the wearables just yet.
How will it work? Quite simple, actually.
To use this new feature, just say ‘Ok, Google. Start. Find my phone,’ or select the ‘Find my phone’ option in the Start menu. Your phone will ring at full volume, and you’ll be that much closer to, well, finding your phone.
Google recently let it be known that the Android Wear experience would soon have standalone Wi-Fi support. It stands to reason that this is what will be required to enable the location feature. Your watch will need some sort of data connection to enact the ringing.
