Samsung announced at their developers conference that their new SIMBAND wearable platform would be available to developers. The SIMBAND looks a lot like the new Samsung Gear S smartwatch, but it incorporates additional sensors. The cool thing about the SIMBAND is that the sensors are completely modular. This means that developers can add sensors or reconfigure them as needed. Samsung claims that the SIMBAND is, “capable of integrating the most advanced sensing technologies in the world.” The SIMBAND should work in concert with other new Samsung products that were announced, including: a new bio-processor and a new developer platform and SDK called, Samsung Digital Health platform. All of this technology is completely open to developers. This tech could help you become a better athlete or help your doctor diagnose an illness. It’s only limited by developer’s imagination.
