Samsung to offer Android Wear-powered smartwatch this year

samsung

Samsung will deliver its first Android Wear-based smartwatch later this year, reports Reuters. No details are known about the device however The Verge also confirmed the time frame with their own sources.

Samsung first got into the smartwatch space with its Android-based Galaxy Gear in fall of 2013 only to introduce a second-gen a few months later. The new Tizen-based Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are starting to arrive in retail stores and with carriers; Gear Fit runs its own operating system.  Android Wear is a totally different animal that sees Google’s platform developed and modified for wearable technology.

We don’t have to be wizards to guess that the Wear-based smartwatch could carry a slight premium price and that it could go on to be a top-seller.
