Samsung to debut Gear Solo in early September 4, report indicates

Samsung will introduce its cellular-connected standalone smartwatch in early September, reports Korean publication Yonhap News. Slated to arrive with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, we should look for it at the Unpacked event scheduled for September 3.
Presumably powered by Tizen, the Gear Solo is expected to work independently of smartphones and offer built-in SIM card support. It’s not clear what markets will ultimately see the wearable; however, we suspect it will be offered across the same channels as other Samsung smartwatches and bands.
According to reports, the price tag could come in as low as $200 but we’re not quite on board with that yet. Other devices from Samsung are priced higher and rely on the use of a smartphone for sync. Tossing in a standalone SIM would likely drive cost up.
Our main concern, as always with connected, standalone products of this type, is what sort of battery we might expect. If we’re not able to get through an entire day then we’re not even going to consider picking one up.
