Samsung announced SIMBAND, their new hardware platform
Latest Samsung leak showed us that they’re working on a Moto360-like smartwatch with a circular display. Other than that Samsung has lots of wearables already out, like Galaxy Gear, Gear 2, Gear Fit, etc. And we’re only talking about wrist smartwear. All of that doesn’t seem to be enough for good old Sammy, they’ve announced a new hardware platform which is not exactly directly comparable with smartwatches, let’s see what’s it all about.
So, what is SIMBAND? It is an advanced wearable health tracker. You strap the device to your wrist and it tracks a bunch of health stuff for you, like blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, hydration, and so on. It does all this in real-time too. SIMBAND is modular in design and it utilizes SAMI (Samsung Architecture Multimedia Interactions) to consolidate data for you.
We have to say though that SIMBAND is a prototype device at this point and it’s probably not going to be out any time soon. That said, what do you think about this? Would you use it if it ever sees the light of day?
