New LG smartwatch... with WebOS?

The twisting and turning tale that is WebOS, might have taken another twist today.  An LG developer website seemed to be hinting at a development kit for a WebOS smartwatch.  Other than a few pictures promoting the development kit, there was very little information for us to go on.

This could be LG’s response to Samsung offering products powered by their own Tizen OS.  Or, it could be LG trying to find a use for the platform that it acquired from HP nearly two years ago.  Then again, it could be nothing more than an experiment.  It would be ironic if WebOS finally found success with smartwatches.  Personally, I think the card based UI that WebOS uses, would be suited for something like a smartwatch.  In the end, if it drives competition, all the better for us smartwatch fans.

UPDATE:  After the flurry of coverage this morning, it seems LG pulled the webpage offline.  Below you can see a few of the images that The Verge pulled off of the webpage.
