MixRadio, formerly known as Nokia Music, will be making its’ official appearance on the Adidas miCoach Smart Run watch, according to an announcement earlier today. Adidas announced the partnership which will allow users the ability to stream playlists via their miCoach Smart Run watch across over 31 countries.
Currently, MixRadio has a catalog of around 34 million songs, and users will be able to create and sync their own playlists via their smartphone to be able. The nice thing about this partnership is the fact that users will also have the ability to sync their playlists via offline syncing so you won’t have to worry about lugging your smartphone with you while you’re out for your run.
The partnership between MixRadio and Adidas hopes to open the GPS smartwatch market to providing more storage. Not only do GPS smartwatches lack in storage, but there are very few GPS smartwatches that even allow for music playback, and this could open the door to more possibilities across the board.
If you’re getting the Adidas miCoach Smart Run watch, or you already own one, you will be getting the MixRadio app via an over-the-air update in the next week or so. Users will receive unlimited access to MixRadio for 6 months. Once the 6 months “trial run” is up, users can either deal with the advertisements and the restricted skip functionality, or upgrade to MixRadio+ for $3.99 a month.
This move really opens the possibilities for not only the GPS smartwatch game, but across the smartwatch game overall. What do you think about the partnership between MixRadio and Adidas? Let us know down in the comments below.
