Lenovo is jumping into the wearable market, anyone surprised? Their new smartwatch is called the Lenovo VIBE Band VB10. Lenovo’s take on the smartwatch is really more of a fitness band with some smartwatch features included. It uses an e-ink screen to prolong battery life up to 7 days. The smartwatch/fitness band consists of a steel display unit and a rubber band which should make it a decent fitness focused wearable. This isn’t exactly the most mind blowing wearable on the market at the moment, but it should give customers a fairly functional smartband at a decent price.
The Lenovo VIBE Band VB10 can be used with any Android phone, as long as it runs at least Android 4.4 (KitKat) and above. The VB10 uses Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with a smartphone and charges via a standard micro USB cord. The smartband features IPx7 water resistance, the usual notifications (phone, SMS, email, etc.), the usual fitness tracking metrics (steps, calories, distance, etc.) and a 1.43″ e-ink screen (296×128 resolution, 230 ppi). The VIBE Band VB10 will be available sometime in April 2015 and cost $89. Unfortunately, if you live in the United States you most likely won’t be able to purchase the VIBE Band. It looks like this is a product destined only for the over sea markets.
