Wearable fit bands and health-trackers have been around for a while now for adults who are looking to keep tabs on their fitness regimes, but now LeapFrog have joined the game with their Leapband wearable activity band for children.

LeapFrog, well-known for their kid friendly tablets and gaming systems, have produced the health-tracker device geared specially towards children aged between 4-7 years old with the aim of getting them active. The Leapband has a range of in-built activities that include challenges such as “jump like a frog” and “Walk like a crab” to get kids moving and games where they can use points earned from the challenges to unlock new levels. It also has a Tamagotchi like feature where you can choose from one of eight animal avatars then feed and care for them.

The Leapband is due for release in August priced around $40. It comes with a built-in accelerometer, a rechargeable battery and a high-resolution (128 x 128) screen. It will be available in three colours pink, blue and green.
