iWatch might not be available until 2015
iWatch will face some tough competition once it launches. There are lots of smartwatch offerings already available in the market and many more are coming at this year’s IFA. Apple is expected to launch the iWatch at its September 9 event, though it might not ship until 2015 according to Re/code’s John Paczkowski.
Sources in position to know tell me it won’t arrive at market for a few months. “It’s not shipping any time soon,” said one. So when does Apple plan to ship its eagerly anticipated wearable? That’s not clear, but my understanding is that we’re unlikely to see it at retail until after the holiday season — think early 2015.
This actually goes hand in hand with previous report from China’s Economic Daily News. If this pans out in the end, many people will be seriously irritated. iWatch has been rumored for a long, long time and a lot of people expected the watch to be available at launch or shortly after it. We’re of course still not sure the iWatch will launch at said event, but that seems like a logical thing. Either way, we’ll find out in less than two weeks.
