Pebble

The Pebble was born out of a 2012 Kickstarter project and ultimately released in 2013. Featuring a black and white e-paper display, a vibrating motor, a magnetometer, ambient light sensors and an accelerometer, it walks a fine line between smartwatch and activity tracker.

Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, it can alert users of incoming emails, text messages, calls, and other notifications. Thanks to software updates and apps, it can also be used a remote control for other devices, including a GoPro camera. With nearly one half million Pebble’s sold, the device has received generally mixed reviews.
