HP turns to fashion designer for new smartwatch

HP are getting into the wearable arena with their very own smartwatch that is rumoured to play nice with both Android and iOS devices, allowing them to sync with the watch to display notifications and possibly the ability to control music playback.

Info on the HP smartwatch is sparse and we only thing we know for certain is that the company will handle the hardware side of things but will put the design of the watch in the hands of a well know fashion designer Michael Bastian.

HP will partner with the luxury e-marketplace company Gilt.com to launch their smartwatch later in the year, it was also Gilt.com who arranged for Michael Bastian to get involved with the design of the watch which will follow the Moto 360‘s lead with a round watch face.

HP are no stranger when it comes to working with Google software, their compact Chromebooks have been a real hit so it’s no surprise that they want in on another tech adventure but it looks like Android Wear wont be powering their smartwatch.

Look out for the rather nicely designed and probably costly smartwatch to land this coming Fall.
