Google to add GPS and Bluetooth to Android Wear

Google plans to integrate New Bluetooth functions and GPS capabilities to Android Wear later this year, reports CNET. The update will make it so that users can listen to music stored directly on their smartwatch via Bluetooth headphones. What’s more, the GPS feature will make it so that wearers can use their device track runs and movements without the aid of a smartphone.

We can imagine that once these updates roll out that a whole new arena of apps will make their way to market. With thousands of apps and games already taking advantage of Android Wear capabilities, these enhancements will only make things that much better.

Between IFA, CTIA, and Motorola later this week, the new round of Android Wear watches will bring about plenty of attention to the platform. And, with more devices should come lower price points and wider adoption.
