Casio joins the ranks of new Android Wear smartwatches
Casio, the longtime watchmaker, has FINALLY, made its way to the Android Wear market. When Android Wear was announced, there were rumblings about when Casio was going to join in on the fun. The wait is now over.
Casio has already released a few smartwatches, but none that run a custom interface, let alone Android Wear. The Smart Outdoor Watch changes that in a big way.
If you’re familiar with Casio’s G-Shock collection, you’ll already have a little taste of what you’ll be getting with the Smart Outdoor Watch. Meaning that this Android Wear device is for the outdoors-men and women.
With the Military standard MIL-STD-810G rating, being water resistant up to 50-meters, and a “Dual-layer display structure, the Smart Outdoor Watch is built to withstand the elements and then some. This smartwatch isn’t designed to turn heads while you’re dressed up in your nicest suit. Unless that suit is some of your best outdoors gear.

There are a few focuses that Casio has designed the Smart Outdoor Watch for, to make sure that you have everything you need to brave the elements. The three “Experiences” that Casio is outlining are; Trekking, Cycling, and Fishing. To get the best experience with the Smart Outdoor Watch, Casio has pre-packaged three applications to get you started; ViewRanger GPS, Runkeeper Fitness, and MyRadar Weather.
It will be interesting to see how the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch holds up against the competition, but one thing’s for sure, this bad boy will definitely hold up against the elements. Official pricing hasn’t been announced, but we are expecting to see the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch priced at about $500.
