Big list of Android Wear voice commands

The voice command feature on smartwatches is one of the device’s biggest selling points. It allows you to use your smartphone without actually having to take it out. You can search the web, send a text, get directions, and even call a cab, all from your wrist. Unfortunately smartwatches don’t come with a list of voice commands that your device will recognize, so unless you’ve already memorized every single command here is a list of some of the more useful commands that you can use.

Okay google…

Messaging

  • “Send a text to [insert contact name]”
  • “Call [insert contact name]”
  • “Email [insert contact name]”

Be mindful however that if you actually say the words [insert contact name] you probably won’t end up sending that message.

Organization

  • “Remind me to [feed the dog]”
  • “Remind me to [go for a run] at [6 pm]”
  • “Remind me to [order pants] when I’m at [home]”
  • “Note to self [buy milk]”
  • “Set an alarm for [7 am]”
  • “Agenda for today”
  • “Wake me up in [20 minutes]”
  • “Set a timer for [2 hours]”
  • “Show alarms”
  • “Start stopwatch”

Navigation

  • “Where is [the White House]?”
  • “How far is [Los Angeles] from [D.C.]?”
  • “Call a car” (this will get you a taxi from Lyft)
  • “Get directions to [1600 Pennsylvania Avenue]”
  • “Get directions to [the White House]”
  • “Get [biking/walking/driving/public transportation] directions to [address]”
  • “Where is the nearest [movie theater]?”

Fitness

  • “Show me my steps”
  • “Show me my heart rate”

Media

  • “Play music”
  • “Listen to [artist/song/album]”
  • “Start [app name]”

And now for the fun (albeit useless) stuff…

Easter Eggs

  • “What is the bacon number of [actor/actress]?”
  • “What is the loneliest number?”
  • “What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?”
